Women Weaving

Women Weaving is a collaboration with artists Rachel Ravitch, Lyndsey Baldwin, Pamela Davis and Allison Manch for the LoFi Arts Festival at Smoke Farm. A commentary on women’s work and the multi layered aspects of violence against women worldwide, we ripped apart recycled cotton bedsheets, many dyed with beets and walnut husks. The scraps were tied together rolled into balls of material that could be readily used in the hanging loom weaving process. Preparations for this project took weeks and included test installations to gauge time required to complete the large scale weaving and textile preparations. Photographs by Andrew Waits.
